What’s good, Digital Art Family!
Thank you, for checking out the sixth edition of the "SLEEPYZ DIGITAL ART MAGAZINE"
Today's spotlight: "0xdgb"
Keep reading for an incredible interview with the Artist..🗞️
How did you come up with the name 0xdgb ?
- "The 0x comes from the start of all eth wallet addresses, and D.G.B are initials. It’s not really that exciting, but I often get asked,
"What should I call you?" DGB is fine, I also don’t mind D."
When did the passion and appreciation for art first begin ?
- "I’d say between the ages of 11-14, I started studying fine art in high school. At that age you really do start to discover what you’re good at, and It was the subject I enjoyed most. I also have a bachelor's degree in graphic design, so my appreciation for art grew over the years as I explored different art forms."
How did you end up finding your own style of art ?
- "I’ve always much preferred using illustrator over photoshop, I like the sharp clean lines of vectors. So illustrating in that style just felt natural to me. And I just love minimalism, minimalist architecture, photography, whatever it may be. So I think I’m just creating art I like to look at."
Who are your role-models / people you look up to ?
- "My grandfather on a personal level. But in the NFT space, I admire what Grant Yun has done and continues to do. Deekay, XCOPY, Fewocious, are the obvious names, but they are paving the way for the upcoming artists like myself."
The weekly poem from - Luca Ponsato
"Tabula Rasa"
A Poem inspired by the piece Blank Canvas
I’ve only started to fill the page
With my own ideas and tales
So here’s the story of a man
Who always tries
But always thinks he fails
I’ve documented each one shot
Every single miss or make
So when they ask to see the record
There’s no way they can say it’s fake
I keep a tally of each day
In hopes that it will change
I do not know when that day will come
But I know that it’s in range
What made you choose this medium to publish your art ?
- "I discovered NFT's in 2021, but like most people I was onboarded by a friend who was mostly buying and selling PFP's. I traded the odd thing here and there, but not very successfully. It was not until October of this year, when my job was cut to part time, I decided to create my own pieces and give it a go using the knowledge I had gained over the prior 18 months or so."
If you could work together with one traditional artist, who would it be ?
- "It’s so hard to just pick one, so I’ll give you a handful. Hiroshi Nagai, David Hockney, Ed Ruscha. Imagine my camera sculpted by Jeff Koons. And of course Banksy."
Where do you gain most of your inspiration from ?
- "Artistic inspiration comes from all of the names previously mentioned. But in regards to my ideas and concepts, it’s a real mix. They can be completely random ideas that pop into my head while walking the dog, others are from real life experiences, or goals of mine."
What does creating art mean to you ?
- "Other than the fact that I just love creating art, it’s a form of self-expression and self-soothing."
What are some passions that you have other than creating art ?
- "Looking at and buying other NFT art. Spending time with my family. I also do have a passion for cars, I’m not so good when it comes to remembering horse power or how much torque the latest Ferrari has, but I appreciate beautifully designed cars."
What’s next for 0xdgb ?
- "More art. And for everyone wondering, no
I’m not doing an open edition."
